The day after Sendong happened, we lived in my mother-in-law's house in Terry Hills, Bulua.
I tendered my resignation as instructor/chairperson in the civil engineering department of the College of Engineering and Architecture of Cagayan de Oro College on January (or was it early February) since I was already confident that I will be accepted as a faculty member in Mindanao University of Science and Technology.
February, I was advised to have radiotherapy for metastasis had already occurred and it affected the bones in my left thigh. I filed a leave of absence for two months and went to Cebu city for treatment.
March, I returned to CdO and enjoyed the rest of my sick leave.
April 16, 2012 was the effectivity date of my resignation. no work....
April 18, I was told by Engr. Joseph Cloyd Lamberte, the chairman of the CE department of MUST that I have a load in the school for summer classes. Praise God! At least I have some source of income for my meds and for payment of my loans.... I started my part-time job in MUST that same day.
I continued as a part-time instructor in MUST on June 2013. Mid-July, my friend, Engr. Sheila Cabaraban, former dean of the CEA in COC sent an SMS to me, informing me that CHED Region X is looking for a, Education Specialist. She encouraged me to apply and I did. (Unfortunately, the slot was not filled in 2012). The renovation of our house in Bellevue, Upper Carmen, also began with me as inspector/resident engineer.
August I was encouraged by Dr. Butch Culura, CEA dean of MUST, to continue my stint as faculty in the school. He recommended me for full-time status...
September 3, my appointment as full-time instructor started. My October I was swore in by the VPAA.
October 14, we transferred to our new residence in Bellevue.
November and December were busy months since I became a member of the task force for accreditation in the college.
Changes.... all for the better....
